Mike began working in the Financial Services industry in 1981. He concentrates his practice in the area of estate and financial planning for individuals and businesses. He practices his financial planning through his affiliation with NFP Securities, Inc. Mike is a Certified Financial Planner practitioner and is currently a member of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners. He has also served as past president of the Mobile Chapter of the American Society of Financial Service Professionals. Mike received his Chartered Financial Consultant designation in 1984. Michael is a Registered Representative/Investment Advisor Representative with NFP Securities, Inc., Mike and his wife Kim, have four children, McRae, Michael, Kimberly and Thomas.
Pete is a Chartered Financial Consultant with 32 years experience in the financial planning field. Pete has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business with a major in Finance. Pete works primarily as a Financial Advisor to individuals and businesses, in the areas of financial, estate, and retirement planning. Pete is past president of the Mobile Chapter of the National Association of Financial Advisors; the Society of Financial Service Professionals; and formerly on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Financial Planners. He is a life and qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table, and has taught insurance and financial planning classes as continuing education for other professionals. Pete has also hosted "Ask The Expert" radio show for ten years. Pete is past president of the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association, past president of the Mirror Lake Raquet Club, the Past President of the Sunrise Rotary Club and a past member of the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries. He is a Registered Representative/Investment Advisor Representative with NFP Securities, Inc.
Plumer entered the financial services business with Connecticut Mutual in 1957. In 1961 he opened a general agency for John Hancock Financial and at the same time formed Financial Resources, Inc. On July 1, 2001 the company celebrated 40 years of service to their clients. In January 2001, Financial Resources, Inc. merged with Pete Peters and Associates to form Financial Strategies, LLC. Plumer served as president of the General Agents & Managers Association and the Mobile Touchdown Club. He was a member of the Senior Bowl Committee, former trustee of St. Paul’s Episcopal School, Rotary Club, Million Dollar Round Table, and the Life Underwriters Association. He was a Charter and Life Member of the National Management Award presented by the General Agents & Managers Conference. Plumer retired from John Hancock after 25 years in 1986 to devote himself to working full-time with his sons-in-laws, Mike Barnett & Scotty Waters, until his death in 2003. Plumer and his wife, Dunc, had four children, Kim and Mike Barnett, Lucille and Scotty Waters, Marie (Goodloe) and Plumer, Jr., and Burgett and nine grandchildren.
Scotty started his career in 1983, while still a college student at the University of South Alabama. As a college student, he received not only his insurance license, but also his Limited Registered Representative License. He is a Registered Representative through NFP Securities, Inc. After graduating in 1984, Scotty joined the John Hancock Financial Companies as a Financial Advisor. In 1986, he became the Vice-President of Financial Resources, Inc., an independent insurance and investment planning firm, and specialized in individual and small business insurance, and retirement planning. Scotty is the past President of the Mobile Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and a memeber of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. Scotty is active in his church and community. He has served on the vestry of his church, the board of the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the Rotary Club of Mobile, and Mobile Arts and Sports Association. Additionally, he is a past board member of the Boy Scouts of America and the Alabama Arthritis Foundation. Scotty has volunteered his time for the United Way, and currently volunteers his time as a coach at his children's school. Scotty and his wife Cille, have three daughters, Layton, Katherine, and Mary Duncan.
Shannon has an Associates Degree in Business from Faulkner University. She has been working with Pete Peters and Financial Strategies for fifteen years. Shannon is responsible for providing client service.
Leah has a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of South Alabama. She has been working with Mike Barnett and Financial Strategies for thirteen years. Leah is responsible for new accounts and customer service.
